Christmas will be here before you know it

Anyone starting to think of Christmas crafts and decor yet?

Christmas and Halloween are my two faves to decorate for...I have an entire closet dedicated to my c-mas decorations. Most are cherished items that have been passed down from my mother (ok, truth be told, she purged her stuff and I took it out of the "Goodwill" pile..ha). Some I made. Some are from craft swaps I joined in on with some great ladies I know from online (shout out to Gwen and Leah!).

I really enjoy making crafts, and I have a few c-mas ideas in mind for this year. I'm hoping to get started soon. I can't wait to show you pics! (provided the ideas pan out)

Here are some cute ideas from BH&G that could easily be duplicated with thrift store items and craft supplies you probably already have on hand.

I've seen something done similar to this one using leftover strips of cardstock and glitter.

Inexpensive glass ornaments can be decorated with all of those scrapbook pretties you probably have stashed away.

Scrapbook paper can be used for anything!

I saw trees similar to this at the Goodwill and Borders recently for next to nothing.

Fabric and/or scrapbook paper and ribbon would be all you'd need for this one!

I'm really loving all of the different tree grouping ideas.

I have some ornaments that aren't the prettiest, but they are special nonetheless since my grandmother made them before she passed away. Do you have any decorations that are sentimental? Maybe something a friend made, or something that belonged to a grandmother?

My mom made a bunch of ortaments when she and my dad first got married. I have a couple but last year my grandma gave me one of my moms ortaments as a Christmas gift, Apparently my mom also gave them as gifts that first Christmas as well. It was special bc that was my first Christmas with my hubby.

Thanks for the inspiration! Chris at Just a Girl is hosting a homemade Christmas gifts party on Monday. You should post some of your crafts! http://j-a-girl.blogspot.com

I can't wait to see your ideas!

I have bought an ornament for every year we have been married and will keep doing that until we have enough for a tree. I love having an ornament that represents that year.

Thank you for the inspiration photos and your thrifty holiday ideas!

I have very few vintage ornaments now but love to mix them with modern decorations.

My favorites are those trees wrapped in fabric (is that what it is?). So pretty! It is dangerous this year with all the ideas out in the blog world...I will have to rein myself in!

LOL about going through your mom's goodwill bin. What is your favorite thing you took from that stash?

I need to get in the mood and create something.

I saw something last night in a store and thought of you. It wasn't homemade or crafty or anything like that. I should go back and get it just because. ;)

I love that last picture! So cute! I can't wait to see your ideas. I have been passing by Christmas decor because I am just not ready yet. Probably because I have no idea where I want to begin!

Thanks! Now you've encouraged me to do well! I've already been dreading Christmas but I am finally catching the spirit.

I used to go all out on my Christmas decorating and I think I did a pretty bang-up job! That's all gone by the wayside now that we have our own little one-man demolition crew! I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with - maybe I'll just photoshop your pics in the background for our Christmas cards this year ;-) jk!

Saw your comment on Thrifty Decor Chick and came over to check you out! Cute blog! I lol'd when I read your profile because Mr. and I say that our tv couple is the Heffernans (we are most alike). Cute! Love that show and hate that it's off. Anywho! I need to get going on C-mas ideas because I'm not so creative and need a little warming up period to get my ideas crankin'. Who am I kidding? I may just copy what I see in blogland from all you creatives! My "prized" Christmas ornament would have to be a huge ball with my and Mr.'s names on it with a huge satin ribbon and the year that we bought our first house (it was a gift from our realtor). I will cry the day that ornament breaks. Seriously. I will cry over a Christmas ornament. Yup. I'm a wee tad sentimental. Take care!

I found you from Shannon and Carrie's blog.
I wanted to say I wish you the best in your job search.
My husband was out of a job for 7 months, due to the person he replaced wanting his old job back.
He just got a job but that is all it is a job. There is nothing great about it, he contuines to look.

I am pretty sure that a large chunck of my christmas decor is sentimental.
I too love to create new decor every time the season rolls around again. The hard part is getting rid of something I aleady have. Why would I have to do this? Oh, maybe because I have 6 trees and 6 totes of christmas decor. This is not even close to what my mom has though.
I love the 3 trees with fabric! They are too cute, and I am pretty dang sure that I want-no must have them!
Thanks for all the great ideas! Keep them coming-I will be sure to copy again and again!!

Oh, I love the pictures! And I LOVE the "trees" in the little painted pots, that you can just use ribbon or scrapbook paper for! :) What great inspiration!

About cherished decorations, I have a very old ornament that my mom gave me that my dad and her had when they were first married (they have been married almost 52 years now)...and one my grandmother crocheted. Both are VERY special to me, and I just pray they'll never break! :)

When I got married my mom gave me all 'my' ornaments. She bought my sisters and I one or two ornaments every Christmas and labeled the bottoms with our initials. So it was really nice to start out married life with a tree full of sentimental Halmark ornaments. I really love that.

I've seen those styrofoam cones covered in so many ways - I definitely think I'll be doing something with a few of those. Other than that I think mostly I'll be reusing what I have. Thanks for sharing those ideas!

I nominated you for an award. I see you already have one...but what's one more trophy to add to your mantel? :)

I am back to say Hi and to tell you that I seriously want to copy those trees wrapped in ribbon. The styrafoam trees are $3-$5 at Michaels. It would be adorable. Now I really might have to do that project.
