Gone to the dogs

Here's a nifty little recycled, repurposed project I completed this weekend.

I saw the idea on someone's blog (I'm sorry, I can't remember who! If you are that person, let me know and I'll link you!), and that person got the idea from Pottery Barn I believe.

*Edited to add: I pinched the idea from Marie Thanks for the heads up girls, I couldn't remember where I saw this!

I took an old tin that once housed Boy Scout popcorn. I then sanded it, painted it, and added "dog treats" in rub-ons.

Simple, cheap, and eco-friendly!

I put the tin inside of a cool basket my husband bought me. When he was out on tour one time, he happened upon an Amish boy selling handmade baskets. I love it!

Sammi, Kola and Cissy like these all-natural peanut butter flavored treats.

Sammi says "yum!"

Unfortunately, I can't take credit for it, but it was Marie over at Watch the Wind Go By! Your tin is adorable. I love how it turned out. Also, thanks for all the great comments you've left. You always have such nice things to say!

Chris is right, it was Marie. I like the smaller version of it.

Ah, too bad you didn't do this earlier because just last week, I took my boy scout tin to the recycle center because I was tired of looking at it after a year. Plus, I know we'll be getting more soon as popcorn sells start this weekend!

Did you prime it first or just spray paint it?

What a great idea - love it!

Thanks for the heads-up girls!

Gwen, I didn't prime it. That would be too much work. I just lightly sanded it with fine grit paper and sprayed it. It was quick and easy. I have a ton of tins from previous holidays. I may do the same, but not use for dog treats. I may use for something else, like bath soaps, gifts, etc.

Love the dog tin, I might be able to do that!
I also am not a chef, and have a brown thumb (not a green one).
Very cute idea that seems easy for me!

Hey girlie! I am back to comment on this again because I went to Hobby Lobby and Michaels today to get some rub-on letters and they don't have anything nearly as cute as the letters you used for the dog treat can! I SO want to copy you but can't? Do you happen to remember where you got those? Thanks!! (And I will be posting the pumpkin dip recipe today too!)

Very cute. I remember Marie making one of those. I'm keeping it in mind for an after Christmas project. Darn, that just means I'll have to eat all the popcorn that comes inside:) Must know who the touring husband is? Would I know him??
