You won't find anything witty or clever or crafty here

Just some pictures from the weekend.

Friday night, I did a rescue transport with one of my girlfriends. We toted a german shepherd, a pit bull mix and a yorkie/poodle mix from Dallas to Ardmore, Oklahoma. The dogs were on a 3 day transport from Dallas to a rescue in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Cosmo, the german shepherd, is about a year old. Supposedly his family brought him in to a vet clinic because they thought he needed elbow surgery. When the vet called them to pick him up, they said "just euthanize him." He was very timid, but very sweet. I love his crooked ear and his beautiful light brown eyes.

Bella Mia is a beautiful brindle pit bull mix. Now, I know people hear "pit bull" and immediately think on the negative. I've helped with several pitties and not a single one had the personality or behavior that the media has put out there to the public. Bella Mia was no exception. She was super sweet. She would stand up on her back legs to get lovin's, and would flop over on her back for a belly rub. She was found as a stray in Dallas, darting in and around traffic. I would have LOVED to have kept her myself.

And then there was Pepper. She is 11 months old, and for whatever reason, her owners didn't want her anymore. She is going to live with the mother of one of the rescue group folks.

Sunday afternoon was beautiful....typical Texas fall day...sunny and 80 degrees. We went to the Dallas Arboretum and enjoyed all of the beautiful plants they had on display.

Did you notice the short-sleeved pearl snap shirt on hubs? Ha!!

Have a great week!

I think that is so kind of you to give your time like that! :) The brown one, I think you said that was the pit bull, is so adorable! :)

I love the pictures you took from the Arboretum, too! I wish we could have some of your sunshine! (Although I shouldn't complain too much because we had some sun this weekend!)

Have a great night! :)

Puppies and plants-- yay! Beautiful pictures by the way.

I have to give you a very big blog-hug for helping with animal rescue. My mom does this, and we currently have six (!!) dogs. One is a full bred pitbull and two are at least half pitbull. Four of them are rescues and the other two still have their stories!

I also have a guilty secret: I'm so scared to show my boyfriend that picture of the German Shepard because as soon as I do I know we may eventually end up with a huge dog that I'm allergic to! :)

How wonderful that you were able to help those poor pups. My heart goes out when I hear of those situations. I'm not sure what I would do without my 2 pups.

I want them all! The pit mix looks like my girl I have. I love pits and I totally agree with you that they are so much better than the media portrays. Every pit I know, including one that was abused, have been better behaved than labs, and all those other more popular "lovable" breeds. If only everyone agreed!

Those dogs look like such sweet dogs. Any form of a pit is illegal within our city limits. :(

Good to see pics of you and B. :)

Okay, I don't know how you do it. I could not help with animal rescue without going insane. I can hardly walk into a shelter without leaving in tears. I'm so glad there are people like you that CAN help. These stories are heartbreaking to me.

It's nice to meet you! :-)
